Poverty and income richness are both phenomena of changes in the income distribution. Poverty and richness increase if more households are situated at the lower and upper tail of the income distribution. Germany experienced an increase of poor households from 11% in 1993 to 17% nowadays as well as an increase of rich households from 6% to 8%. To project asks whether policy changes, demographics, or the labor market were the drivers of these changes.
